Evesham Fire-Rescue will be hosting its first-ever Youth Fire Academy. The Cadets will be instructed by actual fire instructors on the topics that Firefighter Recruits are taught at the Fire Academy. This academy will not in any way certify a person as a firefighter or empower them with firefighter duties or responsibilities.
Purpose: The purpose of this program is to provide participants with a brief experience highlighting some of the training firefighters receive to solidify interest and provide a potential career gateway into the fire service.
Who: Evesham Fire-Rescue is seeking interested youth between the ages of 14 and 17 who have an interest in a career in the fire service. A successful candidate for youth academy appointment is someone between these ages who has a drive to learn about the fire service and the duties of a firefighter. This candidate has an understanding that firefighting is physically demanding and will participate in physical fitness and will conduct themselves with honor, duty, respect, and a dedication to education.
What: The Youth Fire Academy is a week-long academy-style setting where youth cadets will be exposed to a para-military style academy where youth cadets will be challenged physically and mentally in a team environment while learning about fire & EMS services that are the duties of firefighters in today’s modern fire service.
When: Evesham Fire-Rescue will be running the Youth Fire Academy for one week, starting Monday, June 24th and ending Friday June 28th, 2024. The academy will run each day from 7:30am – 5:30pm each day.
A parent/youth cadet orientation will be held Wednesday, May, 22nd at 7:00pm at the Main Street Station. Participation in this orientation by parent and youth is mandatory to be considered for appointment to the Youth Fire Academy. A graduation ceremony will be held on Friday, June 28th at the Main Street Station immediately following the youth cadets’ last day. Parents are encouraged to attend.
Where: The Youth Fire Academy will be conducted at the Evesham Fire-Rescue, Station 221 – Main Street Station located at 26 East Main Street, Marlton, NJ. However, there will be some off-site excursions during the academy.
*Please note: Selected youth candidates will be required to complete a physical with their family physician along with other waiver forms in order to participate in Evesham Fire-Rescue’s Youth Fire Academy.
*This selection process is competitive and only the strongest applicants will be considered. Evesham and Burlington County residents will be given preference. Space is limited (roughly 20 youth cadets). Apply NOW!
