Historic Firehouse

The restoration of our Historic Firehouse was celebrated and officially opened to the public at the Annual Marlton Fall Festival in October 1999.  The Historic Firehouse is home to our 1927 Hale Fire Engine, which was used to protect the residents of Marlton up until the 1970's.  The Historic Firehouse first opened in 1901, and had three additions attached to it, the first being in the 1950's, to keep up with the growth of the Marlton Fire Company #1.  The size of the fire apparatus also grew larger so the building was modified to accommodate the larger vehicles.

The construction of the current station and restoration of the Historic Firehouse began in 1997.  While the current station project was completed in August of 1998, the restoration project of the Historic Firehouse continued until September of 1999.  During the construction of the current station, the original section of the Marlton Fire Company #1 was relocated to the rear of the fire station property, and was then restored to its original condition.  The Historic Firehouse will now be used for public tours and fire prevention activities.  It will also stand as a constant reminder of the men and women who served our community in years past, and what our department has evolved into in the modern day.

The restoration project was lengthy and would not have been possible without the countless hours of labor and craftsmanship put into the project by both our career and volunteer personnel.  In addition, the restoration project was also made possible with donations of money and materials from several area businesses and community groups.
