EFD Explorer Post 226 participated in Hazardous Materials training


Members of the Burlington County Hazardous Materials Team were on hand to give an overview of the teams equipment and operations. The Explorers also got a chance to try out some of the protective equipment and to see what kind of challenges Hazardous Materials Technicians with the team face while operating in the protective clothing. Thanks go out to Brian Petuch & Ed Reynolds of the County Team and FF JD Roberts of EFD and the County HazMat Team for their support in helping to make the evening a success.











Rope Rescue Training


Members of Explorer Post 226 recently trained with firefighters and personnel from the EFD Rope Rescue Team.   The training included learning how to tie important fire service knots, as well as learning about the use of mechanical advantage with an “on-rope” hoisting exercise.    The training was delivered under the direction of Deputy Chief Mike Powers and Captain Matt Collins.













Explorers Enjoy Summer Barbeque at Chartwell


Explorer Post 226 visited Chartwell Swim
Club on Friday, August 29, 2008 for their
summer BBQ.  

Approximately 20 people attended the
event including Explorers and Advisors.

A fun time was had by all swimming,
playing football and basketball, as well as
enjoying the food cooked by the Chartwell
Staff.











E
xplorers Practice for Upcoming Competition


Members of Explorer Post 226 have been practicing weekly since the beginning of April to prepare for the 1st Annual Burlington County Explorer/Junior Firefighter Competition. event will be held at the county’s Fire-EMS Training Center on Saturday, June 21, 2008 from 0800-1200 hrs. Every Thursday evening, Explorers meet at

Station 221 to practice Fire and EMS skills that will be used at the competition.

Explorer/Junior Firefighter teams from Evesham, Delran, Cinnaminson, Florence and Hampton Lakes are scheduled to compete in the event, which is open to members of the competing departments, family and friends of the competitors, as well as the general public.

Explorers Participate in Ropes & Knots Training


The January 2008 Explorer Post Training Session focused on Fire Service Ropes and Knots.

Additionally, members were treated to an overview of the Department's Rope Rescue Team Equipment and Capabilities.

Special thanks to Deputy Chief Mike Powers and Captain Matthew Collins for providing an excellent training opportunity.











Explorers Participate In Ice Rescue Training Overview


Members of Explorer Post 226 were treated to an overview of Ice Rescue Techniques by members of the Medford Division of Fire.  Special thanks to Medford Division of Fire Firefighter Cliff Rickards, and Medford Division of Fire Lieutenant Robert Dovi for providing an excellent training opportunity.












Greyhound
Angels Adoption Center



Members of Explorer Post 226 volunteered their time at the Greyhound Angels Adoption Center in Pennsauken.   Explorers helped to walk the dogs, clean the shelter and play with the dogs.  Lunch with pizza back at the fire station followed our hard work. This worthwhile activity was a fun experience for everyone that attended.












Virtua MICU Medics Provide Training Session
for Evesham Explorers

Explorer post members learned about the role of paramedics in delivering EMS to our community, as well as more about career paths to become a paramedic.    Medic Kathy Schmidt was our guest for the evening, discussing topics including cardiac emergencies, trauma, respiratory emergencies and drug overdoses.

Camden Tree Planting


Explorer Post 226 recently partnered for a community service project with the NJ Tree Foundation, which donated hundreds of trees to be planted through neighborhoods in Camden.  Explorer Post 226 personnel dug holes and planted trees to help improve the area around Ramona Gonzalez Street in the city.  This was a very worthwhile community service project that we hope to assist with again, as future tree plantings are in the works.  Following the tree planting, explorers were treated to a tour of and lunch on the Battleship U.S.S. New Jersey, located on the Camden Waterfront.











Explorers Visit Navy Lakehurst Fire Department

The Explorers recently visited the Navy Lakehurst Fire Department where they were treated to a brief lecture on Aircraft Crash-Rescue Fire Fighting, followed by a demonstration of a T-3000 at the NLFD training grounds.

Thanks to the members of Navy Lakehurst Fire Department for taking the time out of their schedule for the Explorers.

Brick Township

Recently the Explorers participated in the Annual
Explorer Competition, which is held in Brick Township.

In May of 2005 our Explorers placed second overall.
